Overview
Guidelines and Strategies for CNE Faculty was designed by Educational Dimensions, a certified provider of continuing education. Educational Dimensions is an education consulting business, specializing in nursing continuing education, but also offering a wide range of services in instructional design, educational media, meeting coordination and professional development. Educational Dimensions partners with health care professionals, medical industry, and others, in order to develop continuing education programs for nurses. Educational Dimensions and its partners have been developing and delivering quality continuing education programs related to scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient care and the soft skills found in successful executives since 1991.
Target Audience
This self-directed educational activity was designed by Educational Dimensions®, a certified provider of continuing nursing education, and intended for use by Educational Dimensions’ faculty. The activity is intended to provide valuable information to CNE faculty, document faculty credentialing and serve as an orientation supplement for qualified presenters.
Primary target group members are RNs and other health care presenters. The content may also be of interest to allied health personnel and physicians. Module duplication is permitted solely for the purposes of distribution to authorized users. The module may not be sold, or changed without the express permission of Educational Dimensions.
Learner Objectives
Upon completion of the activity, the learner will be able to:
- Identify principles of adult learning which enhance continuing education presentations
- Apply presentation strategies in continuing education presentations
- State differences between inservice and continuing nursing education
- Compare continuing education units (CEUs) and CNE contact hours
- Summarize ethical concepts mandated by ANCC Standards for Disclosure and Commercial Support
- Describe use of continuing education contact hours by nurses and allied health personnel
Teaching Methodology
Participants will complete the web-based learning activity entitled “Guidelines and Strategies”. They will read the article, then register to take the post-test. A score of 80% is required on the post-test. Participants will complete the program evaluation on the website. They will submit all documentation as directed, in order to receive a wallet-size faculty card.
Contact Hours
Upon completion of the entire program, achieving a score of 80% on the post-test, and submission of required documentation, RN participants will be granted 1 contact hour. No partial credit will be granted. Contact hours are available for this eLearning activity until 30 December 2011.
Accreditation
Educational Dimensions is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Educational Dimensions is an approved provider of continuing education by the Washington State Nurses Association , an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Certificate Issue/Replacement
RN participants successfully completing the activity and submitting required documentation will be permitted to print a CNE certificate of completion. Participants are advised to retain the certificate for eight years following activity completion.
